Masterclass CIIIC x IDFA DocLab
On 13 November 2026, CIIIC and IDFA DocLab are organising an inspiring masterclass with Darren Emerson and Dan Tucker from East City Films. Drawing on their extensive experience in immersive storytelling, virtual reality and interactive documentary, they will explore the creative possibilities of immersive media and new forms of storytelling.
The masterclass will be moderated by Kent Bye, founder and host of the Voices of VR Podcast. Since 2014, he has interviewed more than 1,700 artists, storytellers and technologists contributing to the development of virtual and augmented reality. As an oral historian, experiential journalist and philosopher, he explores developments in immersive storytelling, experiential design and the ethical questions surrounding XR.
The masterclass will take place at Vlaams Cultuurhuis De Brakke Grond in Amsterdam, during the 39th edition of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). It is part of the programme celebrating IDFA DocLab’s 20th anniversary: Shared Realities. (opens in new window) After the masterclass, you're invited to explore DocLab’s free exhibition of interactive and immersive art at the same venue.
